There seem to be several themes that piqued everyone's interest, like life in the occupied Channel Islands, that I'll explore more too.

Though Germany fought against us then, it was the Nazis who were the real enemy. I think that's important to emphasize as we consider the current governments we oppose.Chad's Travelshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00452635578427629233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6243596429219285675.post-57892844667550342912011-03-03T16:58:27.766-05:002011-03-03T16:58:27.766-05:00Welcome Chad! So, the story isn't totally fresh in my mind. However, I did enjoy it. I loved reading about a part of WWII that I'd never known about before; the islands being occupied by the Germans. I also loved reading about the German soldiers. I recently read the Book Thief and it reminded me of that in a way, that even though to us the Germans were the villains of that war, to them they were just doing what they had to to survive during that period. I'm a sucker for love stories, so I probably am the target audience for this kind of book. For me it was a good read and I didn't mind the letter format, it made it a little more interesting. It actually got me interested in the book I'm reading now called "Agent Zig Zag" which takes place in the Channel islands during Nazi occupation.

I've only been to Juneau once for a brief visit, but it was beautiful! I'd love to return sometime.

Thanks Sarah, and thanks again for the invite! Ummm you're kidding about Twilight, right??
