I do usually like the mythology stuff, but the underworld bird thing made me think of the puppet things from Labrynth.
I didn't like how she had to be sacrificed in the end either, it left me feeling icky when I was done, which isn't my favorite way to end a book!
I'll have to try Fairest as well.
I think you'll like the Hunger Games Sarah, I enjoyed it!Lindsey Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13911977493326459219noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6243596429219285675.post-90119091228834048422009-07-06T15:28:39.041-04:002009-07-06T15:28:39.041-04:00Yeah I thought it was really slow to get going, to...Yeah I thought it was really slow to get going, too. If I wasn't reading it for our book club, I doubt I would have finished it. There wasn't enough to pull me in...

Maybe I'll give Fairest a try... you know, right after I read The Hunger Games ;)Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09414297305114641225noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6243596429219285675.post-63063461885431226312009-07-06T13:06:27.485-04:002009-07-06T13:06:27.485-04:00Hey. I also read another of her books, "Fairest", before this one and liked it much better.

This one was hard to get into. I think I was 60 pages in before the story actually started to be sort of interesting. And I didn't like the whole underworld part either. Too Greek mythology, Hercules-like for me.

So, definitely not her best work, in my opinion. "The Two Princesses of Bamarre" is another that is more fun to read.Melvin and Carlyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18256862979692568602noreply@blogger.com
