Hello from Carly

Hey all. Hope you don't mind if I join your group. Heather (Mable) invited me. My name is Carly and I'm a former roommate and forever friend of Heather. I live in Southern California with my husband Melvin and our three kids, Audrey (almost 4), Dallin (2), and Sterling (4 months). I love books and because I consistently neglect housework, I still manage to read at least one a week. (Unless it's one in the Twilight series. I read each of those 3 times in one week. I'll admit it - I'm obsessed.) Anyway, I'm excited to be a part of your group. Oh, Megan, I grew up in Juneau! My parents still live there. A word to the wise. Unless you want to look like a tourist, do not use an umbrella. Invest in a good raincoat with a hood instead!

Hi Carly - welcome to the group! Any friend of Mable is a friend of mine. I think we have met in person, but it's been years. I neglect housework all the time so I can read good books (though I have no kids so it doesn't get too bad at our house). Anyone who loves the Twilight books is welcome to join! I love finding other people who are as obsessed with them as I am! :)

You are so very right about the umbrella thing! When we first got here I could never figure out why no one used one, but when I went out one day with my raincoat and the wind was blowing I only wished for a split second that I had an umbrella. Haven't wanted one yet. All you need here are a pair of Xtra Tuffs and a good rain coat! Gotta love the juneauites! Where do your parents live?

I'm glad you know about Xtra Tuffs! Sounds like you've acclimated. :) My parents live in "the valley", near Melvin Park. They attend the 2nd ward - Carl and Debby Perkins. I linked to your blog. Loved the pics of the Mendenhall Glacier and the snow!
